Qualifications:

BA (Hons) in Psychology and English – University College Cork

MA in Non-Directive Play Therapy – University of York

Postgraduate Diploma in Advanced Supervision Across Professions – ICPPD

 

Personal Bio:

Myriam is a Non-Directive Play Therapist in private practice based in Douglas, Cork since 2008.  She has over twenty years of experience supporting children and families with emotional and behavioural challenges.  Myriam provides Play Therapy interventions, parental consultations and creative clinical supervision for qualified Play Therapists, psychotherapists, Social Care Workers, primary school teachers and Early Years Educators

Myriam began her career with a BA (Hons) in UCC and worked in a residential home for teenagers experiencing challenging behaviours.  Moving on to work as a Project Worker with a School Completion Programme, working with children in DEIS (disadvantaged) primary schools.  Myriam also conducted research on the emotional and behavioural needs of children in Irish DEIS schools.  She also worked as a Child Development Specialist, assessing, and addressing the emotional and behavioural needs of children in the homeless services in Cork.

Myriam developed and lectures on the Masters in Play Therapy programme in Munster Technological University in addition to teaching on the Community Development programme.

Myriam is on a panel as Academic Subject Matter Expert with Quality & Qualifications Ireland (QQI). Myriam’s area of academic interest is the personal development journey and supervision needs of therapists and Social Care Workers.
